Golf Academies Answer the Need for Business Savvy Golfers

Golfing Academies continue to grow in popularity as more business leaders take to the golf course every year. These unique schools and colleges have become integral to maintaining the exceptional quality of golf and country clubs across the United States and around the world. Golf schools are unusual because they are the only colleges that focus specifically on educating students on all of the elements of running and maintaining businesses based on a particular sport. You won’t find baseball academies or tennis colleges that cater exclusively to these sports as industries or career opportunities.

Why are golf academies so unique in this respect? Because golf holds an unusual spot in the history of modern sports. It is a sport that can be played by people of all ages and social backgrounds and is popular with individuals from all walks of life. It is also the only sport that has become invaluable as a social and business networking opportunity. Millions of business deals are made every year over a round of golf, and thousands of non-profit organizations sponsor fundraising golf tournaments that draw participants who love playing the game while contributing to a worthy cause. There is no other sport that fulfills these roles so perfectly.

Golf is virtually the only game that is intimately tied to businesses of all kinds. Lawyers, doctors and banking executives regularly hit the links to socialize, network and talk about everything from potential partnerships to sealing the deal for new products. Savvy business men and women know that there is no more disarming environment than a golf course for discussing business in a relaxed setting. You have four or five hours with a captive audience of business associates who are enjoying themselves, which makes them much more receptive than they might be in a stuffy boardroom.

This same philosophy applies to the increasing popularity of golf tournaments for charity. Since people of all ages and abilities can enjoy a game of golf, it is the perfect venue for promoting a charitable organization and raising money. With so many organizations and companies relying on the game of golf to grease the wheels of commerce, it shouldn’t be surprising that golf academies also give their students valuable lessons in how to organize successful tournaments and outings for businesses, both public and private.

There is also an amazing array of business opportunities linked to golfing. If you learn the game of golf, as well as the business end of this fascinating sport at one of the country’s many golf academies, you can find work virtually anywhere in the world. You don’t have to become a golf instructor; careers in golf include design and engineering of newer and better golf clubs, manage a pro shop, become the director of a country club or work in sales for a company promoting a line of golf clothing and accessories.

Why do so many of the people in these industries graduate from golf academies? Because these academies provide an education that encompasses understanding the game, business and marketing skills and even understanding club repair and maintenance. You graduate from a golf academy with an understanding of the business of the game from the ground up.

Country clubs are the last, best form of sports club that caters not only to individual players, but families and businesses as well. If you’ve graduated from one of the top golf academies, you understand the complexities of managing a club that offers everything from fine dining and drinks to beginner's golf lessons for children. It should come as no surprise that today’s golf academies are more popular than ever with individuals interested in combining a fascinating sport with their careers.
